Dr Peter Gillespie

Dr Peter graduated from the University of Qld in 1984 and has gained experience and further training in private practice in various practices here in Australia and overseas. He moved back to his Hervey Bay hometown and worked in other Hervey Bay vet practices before he developed the Wide Bay Vet Surgery in 2001.

Joanna Reilly

Veterinarian (BSc BVMS)

Dr Joanna Reilly graduated from Murdoch University in 1993 and worked in Western Australia practices for five years before relocating to Bendigo in Victoria. She then spent 20 years as Senior Small Animal Veterinarian at a large local hospital there. Together with husband Phil, Joanna decided to make a sea change and moved to Hervey Bay to enjoy the sun, sea and laidback lifestyle. Dr Joanna is passionate about your pet's health and preventing disease, and has fit right in to the caring team at Wide Bay Vet Surgery. She and Phil can often be found strolling along the esplanade with their only child, a handsome standard poodle called Dublin Irish Murphy.

Bianca Saunders

Veterinarian (BVMs)

Bianca originally hails from Tasmania and has spent time in practice in both Tasmania and Melbourne.  Graduating in 2003 from the University of Melbourne she has worked for almost 15 years in both small and mixed animal practice. Bianca and her family recently relocated to Hervey Bay after coming to the area on holidays and loving it so much.  Her furry family members include a little black pug and a very mischievous bull mastiff whom you may see out and about enjoying the walking tracks around Hervey Bay.

Marilyn

Veterinary Practice Manager (Diploma in Feline Behaviour)

Marilyn is the resident cat at Wide Bay Vet Surgery. During the day she can either be found assisting the nurses in reception and greeting clients, overseeing hospital operations or managing files in the office. At night she is in charge of clinic security and is on call 24/7 for gecko management. When Marilyn is not busy running the clinic she enjoys cuddles and naps on the lounge, regular brushes and monitoring her food bowl level.

Rachel

Head Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Rachel grew up on her family’s cattle property where she found her love of animals big and small. At home she has many pets but is particularly fond of her Shar Pei 'Norbit'. When Rachel is not at work she enjoys attending dog obedience and agility training, crabbing (especially in crocodile infested water) and travelling the top end of Australia. Rachel loves being a vet nurse at Wide Bay Vet Surgery but her favourite aspects of the job include emergencies, surgical operations and interaction with the patients.

Jaydene

Trainee Nurse (Trainee Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Jaydene grew up on a small property surrounded by all types of animals. She is now fulfilling a lifelong dream by studying to become a veterinary nurse. Outside of work Jaydene is still surrounded by animals and loves her three dogs Dexter, Pepper and Trace as well as her cat Remi. In her spare time you will either find her out riding horses or on her boat at sea. Jaydene enjoys working at Wide Bay Vets and her favourite parts of nursing are monitoring surgical patients, and assisting clients with advice on caring for their pets.

Rochelle

Trainee Nurse

Rochelle grew up in Sydney and moved to Hervey Bay with her family when she was young. She has always had a strong passion for all animals big and small. Rochelle joined our team in 2015 and volunteered a year of her time at the clinic. Rochelle has recently decided to fulfil her dream of becoming a veterinary nurse. She demonstrates love, respect, compassion, and empathy for all the animals that she faces day to day in the clinic, but especially enjoys meeting the kittens and puppies. In her spare time, you can find her out shopping, hanging with friends and family or at home with her cats M2, Pia and Frankie.
