Clinic Cat (Diploma in Feline Behaviour)
Marilyn is the resident cat at Wide Bay Vet Surgery. During the day she can either be found assisting the nurses in reception and greeting clients, overseeing hospital operations or managing files in the office. At night she is in charge of clinic security and is on call 24/7 for gecko management. When Marilyn is not busy running the clinic she enjoys cuddles and naps on the lounge, regular brushes and monitoring her food bowl level.
Dr Peter Gillespie
Veterinarian & Practice Owner (Bachelor of Veterinary Science BVSc)
Dr Peter graduated from the University of Qld in 1984 and has gained experience and further training in private practice in various practices here in Australia and overseas. He moved back to his Hervey Bay hometown and worked in other Hervey Bay vet practices before he developed the Wide Bay Vet Surgery in 2001.
With over 30 years of veterinary surgery experience, Peter has the solutions to your pets health needs.
Registered Veterinary Nurse & Practice Manager (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)
Rachel grew up on her family’s cattle property where she found her love of animals big and small. At home she has many pets but is particularly fond of her Shar Pei 'Norbit'. When Rachel is not at work she enjoys attending dog obedience and agility training, crabbing (especially in crocodile infested water) and travelling the top end of Australia. Rachel loves being a vet nurse at Wide Bay Vet Surgery but her favourite aspects of the job include emergencies, surgical operations and interaction with the patients.
Dr Nicole Rutledge
Dr Nicole graduated from Murdoch University in 2020. Originally from the United States, Nicole moved to Australia for vet school but fell in love with the country and decided to stay. She worked as a Veterinary Nurse for nearly 10 years before graduating as a Vet. Dr Nicole moved to the Fraser Coast in 2021 and has been working as a Vet since. She has recently joined out team in April 2023.
While she is happy to see all of your furry, feathered or scaley friends, she has a soft spot for cats, especially senior cats. Nicole has special interests in emergency and feline medicine. Her favourite part about being a vet is helping owners and their pets live their best quality life.
When Nicole isnt at work, she spends her free time with her daughter and husband, their 3 cows, 11 chickens, 2 turkeys, 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Senior Veterinarian (BVMS MVS)
Dr Emma has a passion and interest in canine behaviour and has 30 years of experience as a veterinarian. In her spare time she loves to hang out with her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers while enjoying an iced coffee! #ilovetollers.
Dr. Tatum is originally from Canada, but moved to Australia as a child. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2012. She has been practicing as a vet in the Fraser Coast since 2013. She has previously done mixed practice seeing both large and small animals but focuses only on small animals now. She loves the variety that veterinary medicine can provide and enjoys both medical and surgical cases. Her favourite part about being a vet is being able to provide animals with comfort and help give them the best quality of life possible.
When Tatum isn't at work, she enjoys time at home with her 3 fur babies - Sissy, Marley, and Reggie, her (human) son, and her partner.

Jaydene grew up on a property in Tamborine and has always been surrounded by animals. She has been with us since 2016 and holds a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing. She looks forward to any oportunities that get thrown her way, including cake! In her spare time you will find her out catching mud crabs, horse riding or camping somewhere near the beach or bush!

Georgia grew up in Hervey Bay, and recently moved back after some time in North and Outback Queensland. Her favourite part of being a nurse is caring for our patients during surgery. Georgia enjoys taking her dog Ned to the beach on her days off, and exploring with her camera. Welcome to the team Georgia.

Meet Bec! What she lacks in height she makes up in work ethic. Bec has been nursing for 5 years and has been a part of our team for 4 Years. Her passion began when she was young when she used to care for wildlife with her nan. Her favourite part of her job is caring for critically ill patients that require intensive care.

Meet Rochelle our superstar receptionist. She is an integral part of our team and shares a very close bond with our clinic cat Marilyn. You can find Rochelle in the clinic always lending a hand to help your furry family members. She is one of a kind and we are happy to have her in our team! :)

Nicola grew up locally on a small property in Mungar where her fondness for Animal Care began, helping look after chickens, dogs, a horse and wildlife. Nicola has been a Veterinary Nurse for 10 Years and now calls Hervey Bay home.
Nicola has a noodle dog named Ayla whose favourite hobby is couch-surfing and zoomies at the beach, and a family dog called Gem a beautiful Border Collie that just loves to play ball all day long. She also has 3 cats, Sharky, Khaleesi and Midoriya who demand food and love regularly.
Meet Courtney, our wonderful receptionist. She brings a unique & creative personality to our team and always has a can-do attitude! You can find her at reception chatting to our wonderful clients and patients! In her spare time, you'll find her either coaching Muay Thai or walking her 3 mischievous dachshunds.
Trainee Veterinary Nurse (Studying Certificate II in Animal Studies)
Meet Mattyse, Mattyse has wanted to work with animals her whole life. She is always up for a challenge, and loves meeting all of our wonderful clients and patients. Mattyse is looking forward to becoming a qualified Veterinary Nurse. When she isn't at work you can find her playing with her cavoodles Gigi and Winnie.

Milli has grown up in Hervey Bay and has always had a passion for animals. Her favourite part about working in the clinic, is meeting all of our wonderful patients. You can find Milli here on a Wednesday or walking her two groodles Ollie and George on the beach!
Meet Kobie! Kobie has grown up locally in Hervey Bay where she has obtained a certificate II in Animal Welfare. Kobie has always dreamt of working in the animal industry and loves caring for all animals big and small, but has a fondness for dogs. When Kobie isnt at work she enjoys spending her time with her Blue Smithfields Storm and Gnasher.
